Article: Is MGM All-in on CityCenter?
Up next in my “Fool Revisited” series was another sector piece, this time about the gaming industry. When I started the Writer Development Program, I thought that I would eventually focus on gaming stocks, but I never got around to it, primarily because there was another Fool that already had cornered the market on all things gaming.
As you can see from the title of the article, it was influenced by MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) investing a lot of money on a development called CityCenter, a $9.2 billion investment that included a new hotel, condominiums, shopping, and all sorts of other crap. This was a trend in Vegas over the past decade or so, with luxury casino/hotel owners trying to complete with big money developments outside of the US.
