Robert Writes a Book – Day 29

Missed yesterday because of work things, which is going to push down the average, but it’s alright. Progress is progress.

Probably would have been able to write more if I didn’t have to go back and change a bunch of stuff. I should have researched a little more thoroughly when I was building my timeline, and fortunately, it ended up not being that dramatic of a change in the end.

Done with the first meeting between main protagonist and the new mentor, so the next thing should be a bit closer to something actually happening. I think. Not really sure at this point per usual, so we’ll see where my fingers take me when I get back to writing on Monday.

On with the stats:

Robert Writes a Book – Day 27

I didn’t get to writing today until later in the afternoon, so I didn’t get as much done today as I was hoping, but it was still a positive number at the end of the day.

Today was more of the first meeting between the main guy and the new mentor/father-figure character. Hope to finish this part up before the end of the month, but, as always, we’ll see where the story takes me.

On with the stats:

DAILY STATS:
Total words written: 22,974 (+871 from yesterday)
Daily average: 851 (up from 850)

Robert Writes a Book – Day 26

Two days in a row, and I’ve almost returned to writing over 1,000 words a day again!

I spent most of today’s words writing about another mentor/father figure for my main character, and he’s kind of amazing. Doesn’t have as strong a name as Roland Pabst, but my young protagonist really needs some guidance in his life from men that are older than him since his father was pretty much absent from his life after he turned 18.

It’s still background stuff, but I am getting closer and closer to something actually happening methinks. I hope by the time I reach 50,000 words (the next reveal mentioned below), I hope to know what exactly my dude is actually going to be doing, but I guess we’ll see what happens.

On with the stats:

DAILY STATS:
Total words written: 22,103 (+932 from yesterday)
Daily average: 850 (up from 847) [Average on the 13 days I’ve actually written is 1,700]
Approximate days to end goal: 162+
Approximate days to next reveal: 32+

Robert Writes a Book – Day 25

Before today, I hadn’t written anything since adding a bit after sharing the first little bit of the book back on the 15th. I kind of explained why I was struggling with things here. My story was also not going anywhere, so I wanted to take some time and see if I could find some direction again, which I think I manged to do today and get back on the horse, so to speak.

I’m still filling in some stuff, though I feel like I am closer to my main protagonist’s story than I was before. I still need to find out what he did to get where he is now, and why he hasn’t been able to stop being so miserable, but it’s getting there. As I alluded to in my previous post, the main part of this story will probably happen in 2007-2008, and I’m still trying to figure out if my current timeline still lines up exactly the way I want it to.

On with the stats:

DAILY STATS:
Total words written: 21,171 (+965 from 6/15)
Daily average: 847 (down from 1,347) [Average on the 12 days I’ve actually written is still over 1,700]
Approximate days to end goal: 163+
Approximate days to next reveal: 34+
(These should start to shrink again once I get back close to the same pace as before)
