The Year That Will Be 2014

Yesterday, I looked at all the goals that I made for myself for 2013 and how I fared, and my performance was less than stellar. Nevertheless, I am not deterred from making even more goals this year, though I don’t think it will approach the number and specificity of 2013. I have a few basic goals that would make 2014 better, and hopefully I will be able to accomplish them.

On with the show!

1) The Fitness Goal(s)
I know that people say that specific and numerical goals are easier to accomplish and whatnot. That said, this goal will be a combination of a couple different things:

  1. Lose 80 pounds – I like this number from last year, so we’re going with it again.
  2. Run 300 miles this year
  3. Get my gym on at least 3x a week
  4. Sleep better and like a normal person
  5. Eat better, including eliminating soda completely by the end of the year Continue reading “The Year That Will Be 2014”

The Year That Was 2013

It’s the first day of a new year, and like others, I like to examine my life and try to figure out the things that might be worth changing. Before I move onto 2014, I thought I would take a look back at the goals I set for myself last year. When I did it last year, I had three different posts around the three different parts of my life. I’ll quickly review these before I move onto the few goals I have for this year.

Part 1 from 2013 was the “physical” goals I had in mind. Part 2 was the professional goals, and Part 3 was some stuff that I couldn’t slot in the other categories.

The physical goals were as follows: Continue reading “The Year That Was 2013”

One Week Down

After one week on my Arbonne-based nutrition plan, I am ready to report seven days worth of results. I was going to post something midweek, but I was a bit too busy and just never got around to it. Nevertheless, judging from what the scale reports this morning, what I am doing is working thus far, and I am very pleased with the results. Though scale visits earlier this week showed a larger loss, I am still satisfied with the number, and should this trend continue, I might well be under 300 pounds by the end of the month.

Last Friday, I weighed in at 327 pounds. I took some measurements as well, but I won’t be updating those until the end of next week. When I woke up this morning, the scale was being a bit schizophrenic but ended at or around 321 pounds a few times, so that’s what we’ll say my weight is today. I am glad that I have shown this much progress so quickly, as any weight loss is only more encouragement to keep going. I’ll check in again next Friday at the 14 day mark.

Beginning weight:      327 pounds (6’2″)
Current weight:           321 pounds
Total weight lost:            6 pounds (1.83% of beginning weight)

Until next time…

Weight-Loss Journey Begins…Again

There are many examples on this here blog exploring my attempts to lose weight over the years. As I am at my highest weight ever, I have obviously failed in my previous efforts to get to where I want to be.

That being said, I have decided to embark on yet another attempt to get to a more healthy weight. My sisters Kathy and Stef have had some success using Arbonne products to get healthy, and I have decided to get on board. I will try to post at least weekly updating my weight-loss, and as my schedule allows, I might post more updates about how I feel during the week. I’ll be doing the “28 Days to Health” as a minimum, and potentially longer depending on my success in the program.*

*Though even if my results are pretty modest, I might incorporate the shakes into my daily routine, if only because they are pretty tasty and portable. Continue reading “Weight-Loss Journey Begins…Again”
