Note: I’ve just decided to post my daily updates on my novel here so that I maintain ownership on them should I ever choose to leave Facebook or Twitter. Everything regarding the novel will be under the “Robert Writes a Book” category, so feel free to follow along should some other stuff start getting written that displaces these daily posts.
New month equals new writing project for me, but it won’t be showing up on the blog, so don’t think you are missing something.* I’m going to attempt to write a novel. Fiction, but probably the largest writing project I have ever undertaken.
*It will be on the blog every once in a while, but when I initially wrote this, I wasn’t planning on moving it here.
Will I get it done in a month? Probably not. It’s about 50/50 that I get frustrated the second I actually have to make the characters do anything and just forget the whole endeavor.
I don’t know what it is going to be yet. The basic thought has been swirling in my head for a while, and I finally decided to put pen to paper, so to speak, and see what happens. I don’t even want to assign a genre to it yet since I think it could go in a couple of different directions at this early point in the whole thing.
Nevertheless, as I’ve seen some other folks do on here from time to time, I’ll be posting daily-ish updates about how far I’ve gone when I’ve finished writing for the day. As I think I am probably done for Day 1 (even though I technically started yesterday), my word count currently stands at just over 5,100 words! 17 pages! It sure is easy to write stuff when you don’t have to do citations.
It’s been lightly revised so far, and I’m sure there will be days where there’s a net loss in pages. And I don’t know if this will be something that I try to get published or even sell as a e-book. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Anyway, it feels good to have something to have swimming around in my head that isn’t the Bob the Train videos that the kiddo watches on a loop. I hope to share some of whatever this thing is eventually, but it probably won’t be anytime soon.
Again, this is mostly for my own accountability, and I figured that it would be better than a daily gym post, but thank you for your indulgence.
