With less than two weeks to go until I am done with school forever,* there are a few things about my short-to-intermediate future that I am ready to announce here.
*I reserve the right to return to school at a later date, but only as an instructor or administrator.
Kim and I have decided to set our end date in Illinois, pending either of us receiving a full-time offer in the meantime. Since her lease is up the end of July, and mine is pretty much as well, we will spend the last few weeks of July packing and getting ready for a move back to Slat Lake. With jobs lined up it will be a little easier to do so obviously, but I think we’ll be able to figure something out if we need to. Plus, I have been told by at least a couple of staffing agencies that I can get a job pretty easily in finance if I was already there, though the jobs would be of the temp variety and not something that they are willing to offer me while I am here. So strange.
Second, Kim and I have decided on when we will be getting married. It’s going to be a casual affair the second week of September in the great city of Las Vegas, the site of our engagement. We haven’t really figured out a lot of the details, but if you can make it to Vegas the second weekend in September, you are more than welcome to stop by for the festivities. Keep an eye out for more information as we figure it out.
Finally, I would like to make a preliminary announcement of the return of Eberhard Tax! Unless I manage to find a job that will take up too much time or expressly prohibit me from doing so (not very likely at this point), I will be returning to the world of professional tax preparation around October or so, with a goal of completing 20 tax returns for money next year. There may be a name change in the works, but I hope that I can start building the foundation next year to use tax preparation as a means to start acquiring some financial planning clients down the road. Furthermore, as I begin to study for the CPA exam in the fall (if I’m eligible), doing taxes should help on that portion of the exam as well. Also expect a bit more on this as we get closer to the end of the year.
