It’s been a while since I put anything up here, but I think it’s about time that I do.
I probably should have started this a few months ago, but I’ll start it now before I get too far behind. I briefly touched on this before when I wrote of a new found appreciation for the awesomeness that is/was/will be Arrested Development. Though that post in general was more about shows that I may have missed or ended up cancelled before their time, this series will be more about re-examining my life based on the pop culture-y stuff that surrounded me growing up. It will probably feature a little music, some movies, and television.
The foundation of this was borne out of free Dawson’s Creek available on Amazon Prime. As I trudged through the particularly boring first season, I semi-realized that maybe the show had a bit of an impact on me, especially in regards to the female of the species. Granted, by the time Dawson, Pacey, Jen, and Joey first started airing on the WB in 1998, I had already bonded over the show with my future (ex-)wife and stopped really pursuing “local” girls. Nevertheless, 31 year-0ld me realized that 17 year-old me was probably more like Dawson when it came to women, and less like Pacey. Though I can’t recall and hot English teachers that I would have had an affair with as a sophomore in high school, Dawson was a little too introspective, emo before emo was something ridiculed and mocked. Pacey just went what after he wanted and usually succeeded, eventually (SPOILER ALERT) ending up with Joey at the end. But I digress.
So as I g through the next 4 1/2 seasons of “the Creek” over the next few weeks, I think I am going to post my general reflections on the show that was once appointment viewing every week. After that, and maybe while doing it as well, I will examine some other things that may have influenced me into the person that I am. We’ll see where this goes.
Until next time…
