My first birthday actually spent in uniform with the Army. Since my birthday is so close to Christmas, and Christmas tends to be a slow period for the Army, I have never had the occasion to actually be on duty and in uniform on my birthday. Nothing special happened, but it was still interesting nonetheless, as I know people in the Army who spend nearly every birthday in uniform, especially those that have June birthdays as this is the typical Annual Training period for the Army Reserve. Unfortunately for me, as always, my birthday is in December, so it was another cold, miserable day at Fort Dix, New Jersey. At least we are getting ever so closer to our “Holiday Exodus” leave period and eventually our deployment overseas.
