Today was another day full of wonderful Army things. It ended with preparing our foot locker for shipment, but began at JRC again to finish up some immunizations. I received a vaccine for Small Pox, a disease that has all but been eradicated in the United States, being responsible for only 2 of every 10,000 deaths every year. This is not the case in the Middle East, where Small Pox still kills many more people each year, partially due to the fact that personal hygiene is not as important in these countries due to lack of public utilities in some locations and various other reasons. Hopefully I won’t react too badly to the vaccine and be able to care for it without too much difficulty.
After the efficiency that is Army medical processing (haha), I was pulled to CPOF, or Command Post of the Future, training that I was not really prepared for, but something that I was hoping that I would be able to do after the favorable reviews that the previous group gave the course. The system itself seems like a pretty decent one, and interacts with other military systems, but it is also something that is a perishable skill; it is great that the Army saw fit to train me on the system, but I wonder if it something that we will be utilizing in the near future. There are so many other systems that are used Army-wide; I just wonder if there was something else that would have been better to learn over the two days I spent at this course.
