I’ve been kind of sucking a whole lot at this running thing lately. Partly because of the recent crummy weather we have had recently, partly because I just haven’t really been all that motivated for some reason. Can’t really put my finger on it, but I think part of the problem is that I have not been running enough to get better at it, so running really is a chore recently. I know I need to do it, but sometimes it is just hard to pull myself away from whatever I have been doing.

It’s not that I am doing anything super important either. I could actually use a run every day, if only to give me a chance to have a few minutes (an hour) to myself and just think things out. Or not think about things. To decompress. All those great things that running and endorphins are supposed to do for you, not to mention the fitness aspect.

I was trying to build a nice base for these Army schools that I have coming up, but with those, and the deployment, possibly being removed from my agenda (not likely, but you never know with the Army), I just haven’t really felt like doing it to get ready. I reached a good point I think for the PT test we took in May; I did more push-ups than I had done in quite some time, passed my sit-ups, and improved on my run. I was looking to build on that and continue to strive to at least meet this standard prior to deployment. The weight loss will come with that. Plus, I got that pesky ten-miler to train for.

Not to mention Her. Not saying that I am an unlikeable guy, nor am I insinuating that she would be as petty as to only consider my outward appearance. But it couldn’t hurt, especially considering she appears to be sticking with the Army for the foreseeable future. Although it may be easier or better for me to leave the Army behind, it will also be beneficial, at least short term. As I have said previously, this deployment will be a chance to reset my life, and prepare to move onto the next phase of said life, whether it be as a teacher or a motivational speaker, or as a career Army-type.

So I’ll keep plugging away. It doesn’t help any that I am suffering from a mild case of plantar fasciitis again, but I deal with it. Gotta love Aleve. I managed to do 35 minutes on the treadmill at the gym, covering 2.7 miles or so. I had every intention of going for a little swim, but I wasn’t really feeling it, plus there were some kids acting the fool in the pool (a rhyme!) and I didn’t feel like dealing with that problem at the time. Down to around 294ish too, which seems to be a popular weight for me recently. I am eating better, and less, so we’ll see if I can keep it up, especially through the weekend. Hopefully, I will get a chance to see Her again so I won’t be all depressed all weekend.

We shall see…
